Story

Thula Baba—meaning "hush little baby" in isiZulu—began when founder Nomvula Dlamini couldn't find skincare gentle enough for her newborn daughter's severe eczema. As a trained pharmacist, she understood ingredients; as a desperate mother, she understood urgency. She began formulating in her Durban kitchen, drawing on both pharmaceutical science and her grandmother's traditional remedies using African potato, calendula, and shea butter. Word spread through her mommy groups, then pediatricians started recommending her products, and Thula Baba was born. Today, every product is developed with input from our community of over 5,000 South African mothers and tested by dermatologists specializing in pediatric and pregnancy skin. We've earned the trust of 40+ hospitals and clinics across KZN and Gauteng for their maternity and NICU units. Our factory in Pinetown employs 15 women, many of them mothers who helped formulate the very products they make. We donate 5% of profits to the Siyakha Baby Shelter, because every baby deserves gentle care.
