Burundi remains one of specialty coffee's best-kept secrets—producing coffees that rival neighboring Rwanda at often lower prices. This natural-processed lot from Kayanza province showcases what happens when Bourbon varietals meet extended cherry fermentation: deep blueberry jam sweetness, winey fermentation notes, and a dark chocolate finish that lingers for minutes. Natural processing is higher risk but higher reward, and this lot landed perfectly—clean fermentation, no defects, just pure fruit intensity. We've roasted medium-dark to complement the inherent sweetness and bring out chocolate notes. Mind-blowing as espresso, especially in milk drinks where the fruit cuts through beautifully. Sourced from Long Miles Coffee Project, which operates washing stations and runs education programs for farming families.
