Kenyan coffee needs no introduction—it's the benchmark against which all bright, fruity coffees are measured. This AA grade lot from Mahiga factory in Nyeri showcases everything that makes Kenya legendary: a phosphoric acidity so bright it practically sparkles, intense blackcurrant and grapefruit fruit notes, and a savory tomato-like quality that sounds strange but tastes incredible. The full-washed process and careful drying on raised beds develops remarkable complexity and a brown sugar sweetness that emerges as the cup cools. We've roasted this to a medium-light level to balance the explosive acidity with approachable sweetness. Stunning as filter coffee; also makes a memorably fruit-forward espresso for adventurous baristas. Sourced from Mahiga Farmers Cooperative Society, Mt. Kenya region.
